SEO for your Blogger Blog

Blogging can significantly enhance your search engine optimization, but Blogger default code does not optimize your blog posts.
To get better search engine ranking for your Blogger Blog you need to:
  • ensure each post title becomes the page title of the post
  • ensure that keyword and description tags are optimized
To enhance your search engine optimization, open the blogger template and near the top look for the line that includes:

<$BlogPageTitle$>

Replace this entire line of text with:

Once you have edited your blogger template, save and republish your blog. Then view your blog posts and View the Page Source to confirm everything is working properly.

What this code does:
  • changes the title of each blogger post to the Title you gave the post, followed by the blog title
  • adds description and keyword tag that is identical to the page title.
  • keeps the home page title of your blog and archives of your blog the same as they were originally.
(PS. sorry I had to paste an image of the text due to blogger restrictions on posting code.)

Who is your Findability Specialist?

This post is just a question..... don't have an answer?

You need to find one, appoint one, or claim the job for yourself.
This person needs to spend time each week making sure your Web site is findable by your ideal guests.

Just think about it: How much time does your current business spend enhancing your presence on search engines? Now imagine this time was increased. What would happen to your visibility, Web site visitation, and inquiry rate?

SEO with Adobe Contribute

Adobe Contribute is a simple way for anyone to edit Web content. The one limitation is that users cannot easily make changes to the underlying html code. Although users can add alt tags to images and title tags to the page, it is not possible to change the header meta tags for 'description" and "keywords". Nevertheless, tourism businesses that are new to Web site editing and who want some control over their content can go quite far with Contribute.

Incidentally, Google appears to have reverted to showing the most relevant page content associated with searches in lieu of the description meta tag. The Page Title is still the most important meta tag. Be sure your page title contains your keywords as well as a message that inspires a Web searcher to click on your search result.

Thank you to D. Jewell for requesting this information on Tourism Web site editing.
