How good are your PDF Keywords & Links?

Have you ever searched for something online and gotten a pdf document as the search result? What does this tell you about the importance of Search Engine Optimization for your PDF documents?
Good Web site design makes high volume text available as a pdf instead of lots of placing large amounts of text on a Web page that most people won't read.

When preparing pdf documents be sure to use keywords in the text and titles of documents. Use hyperlinks in your pdf documents and link to relevant pages on your Web site. When naming pages on pdf documents, be sure to use the "http://" extension as well as your Web address in the document to ensure the links properly link to your site. The printed document will serve the user better too, because they will know what web site they got your great tourism resource from when sharing with others.

Here is a sample pdf document with keywords.

Remember, PDF Documents affect the relevance of your site for keywords. If you don't use them, expect your search engine rank to drop. If you use keywords well, the links will greatly enhance the relevance of your entire site with search engines.

Two minutes to check your Title Tags

I often ask Tourism Keys Workshop participants, "What keywords do you want your Web site to show up for?"
Ask yourself that question. Then load your Web site and check your Title Tags.

If you want to get a quick lift in your Web site, edit your title tags. Load your page in a browser and look at the frame at the top of the page. What does it say?
Be sure your title (which can be editing in your html be editing the TITLE tag in the header of your html code) is a bold promise that uses relevant keywords!
Go through your site and adjust the title of every page to be sure that your keywords are there.

Check back in a month and note the impact. You might get a big surprise and hear the phone ringing more frequently for your tourism business.

Get a Passport Now Resource

The US travel industry is encouraging travelers to get passports. The newly launched Web site might be a good link for Canadian Tourism Businesses to provide for their U.S. visitors.

I've mentioned 's Pages service that makes it easy for Tourism businesses to create free Web sites without possessing any secrete code writing abilities. Google also now announces free Web site hosting for it's Adwords Advertisers. Now you can create a site. Make an offer. Purchase online advertising and direct queries to your own free domain!

Google seems to be everywhere these days, but for the tourism business looking to bolster their online presence, this might be just the incentive needed to get into keyword advertising with Adwords.

Adventure Tourism Businesses - Free Online Bookings and Inventory Management

OK, I really did jump off my stool when I heard that MonkeyBean http://www.monkeybeanonline.com/travel/home/
was offering free Inventory Management and online booking services free of charge with no strings attached .....
At first I thought... too good to be true.
But no, in fact this might be just the ticket to help tourism businesses manage inventory and bookings online without developing their own IT department.

Give it a look.
